A-Block, one of the original school buildings was in a bad state although it had over the years been repainted. However, by 2001 external work was needed desperately. Most windows and doors were in need of repair. The wait was so long that some windows had to be boarded up. The cellar below A-Block was regularly flooded and at times needed to be de-infested. Not conducive for good teaching and learning. Yet, the Authority kept dragging it's feet and used any number of excuses to delay the refurbishment process even though the school buildings had been assessed and audited as the worst in the borough. When OFSTED commented on the state of the school environment, the LEA witch-hunted the head, who had been praised in the Ofsted Report. |
