About Berwick Press
Berwick Press was established in order to publish Tilting at Windmills - a cautionary tale of corporate bullying. As the book told a true story and therefore named names, it proved quite difficult for the author to find a publisher brave enough to publish. So Justine self-published and so far has sold over 500 books.
The story is a must for every head/teacher and governing body. It deals with the (mis)use of power of Authorities and LEAs, particularly when they witch hunt good individuals in order to hide or minimise their own neglect and incompetence. What happened to the head and governors at Lostock amounted to the worst kind of bullying. But then large corporate public bodies appear to be a law onto themselves - they reign by instilling fear and terror.
Sadly, the author reports that Lostock College (as it is now known) has received a Notice to Improve from OFSTED in February 2006 - in other words the College has Serious Weaknesses far more serious than in 2001. It is the children that suffer as too many are leaving the College without achieving basic standards. Yet, the Executive Director responsible for Education, Chris Pratt, remains in post as do a small core of incompetent teachers, who Mr Pratt praised after the OFSTED Inspection in 2001.
If you are being bullied, even persecuted than please make contact for you are not on your own. Too many heads, teachers and governors find themselves at the mercy of ruthless bosses. It is not easy to stand up to them and win.
Currently there are some 450 headteachers suspended in England and Wales and more often than not because they have incurred the displeasure of the powers that be. Often they are publicly slated before any disciplinary hearing has taken place. Of all the high professionals in this country, the heads appear to be the most vulnerable usually at the hands of LEAs.
